Low Intervention

Our hives are inspected infrequently and only recieve help if they need it. They winter entirely on their own honey and are not supplimented with sugar unless to save them from starvation. Our combs are naturally drawn without any plastic elements and are constantly renewed to limit the toxins they accumulate from our environment. Our application of organic miticides are extremely targeted and only once per year. This is a necessary intervention to deal with the parasitic varroa mite which is the number 1 cause of hive mortality globally.

Our Honey

We utilise a wine press to extract our Honey. Many of our combs have pollen beneath the honey layer. This is extruded into our honey by the press producing a unique flavour and higher nutrition. Amounts vary by season and batch. As unpaturised honey typically crystalizes rapidly, we seed the honey with honey that has a micro fine crystal structure to make a soft-set honey. The result is a spreadable honey that will not require heating to get out of the jar. Honey is packaged in 500g jars. Please contact us for larger sizes to be bottled upon request.

We are 10 minutes west of Dundalk. There is a Self Serve Honesty Box at the front of the driveway.
